Deciding Whether or Not to Hire a Fitness Trainer

The majority of the women I worked with are unsure of what they need to do when they begin a new workout program. Hiring a personal trainer could help motivate you. A personal trainer can give you the detailed instruction you wouldn’t get with your membership from a gym. This could mean correcting your form during you workout or ensuring that you complete your scheduled workout without cutting corners.

If you have your own home gym they can sometimes meet you at your residence thereby cutting down on your commute time. This is important if you have an extremely busy life.

When looking for a trainer you should get recommendations. The majority of my clients come through word of mouth. That in my humble opinion is the best form of advertisement. However, before investing your money in a trainer you should sit down and ask them some important questions. Importants things such as how much liability insurance they have, and what type of qualifications or certifications they possess.

Another important point to consider when hiring a trainer is whether or not you prefer a male or female trainer. For women they tend to be more comfortable hiring a female trainer especially if they are coming to their home.

Whether they are male or female it is best to hire them on a short-term basis until you are comfortable and satisfied that they are right for you. There are many personal trainers who are a big waste of money. I recall an incident I came across a few years back where a trainer basically sat on the bench staring into space while his female client performed the workout routine. This trainer did not offer any motivational words, encouragement, or spotting for the hour long workout session. He showed a total lack of interest and respect to his client. This in my opinion is unacceptable and blatant robbery.

By hiring a personal trainer short term you can learn what you need to know and ensure you are doing the exercises correctly and then you can continue under your own motivation.

You can always call them back from time to time to go over the program and make adjustments based on your progress.

Having an experienced trainer can reduce the time it takes to reach your goals considerably and set you on the right path to healthy lifestyle.
