Weight Loss for women: Taking the boredom out of your workouts

Congratulations you finally started the New Year ready to roll with your new exercise regiment. Now the hard part begins…staying motivated enough to reach your weight loss goals. A common theme I find among women who start a new fitness weight loss regiment is they quit due to boredom. Even the most committed fitness guru can become bored due to a stale routine so don’t feel to bad. It is very important to keep your workouts fresh and exciting. This will make you look forward to your workouts instead of turning it into an arduous daily task.

Here are some helpful tips on how to spice up your workouts:

1). Take your workout outside. Instead of running on the treadmill go for a run or walk in the park. You can also ride a bike. Doing so allows you to change the scenery and take in the fresh air. Instead of watching the timer on the treadmill you can take in the beauty of the great outdoors. An hour will pass before you know it.

2). While walking or running outside do some interval training while you are at it. Walk or run a little, stop and do some squats or lunges. You can also drop to the ground, do some push-ups then resume to running. What I like to do is jog at a nice pace to one lamp post then sprint to the next lamp post alternating with each lamp post I pass by.

3). Workout with a friend. Not only does it serve as a means to motivate you another but consider it a social event. You can catch up, bond, and use that time as a way to keep in touch with one another.

4). Join a dance classes. Classes such as hip hop or jazz are great for cardio and increasing flexibility. It can also be fun and less mundane then the gym as you will learn new moves and routines each class.

5). Buy some new runners and a new outfit. Looking good can go a long way it motivating you to workout.

6). Set a goal such as entering a future competition such as a biking or marathon. By doing this you have something you can strive for as you train.

7). Join an exercise group in your area such as a running club or fitness activities club. It’s a great way to meet new people, get out and have others in the group help motivate you.

With these tips in mind there should be no reason or excuses for why you cannot make exercise a daily part of your life. So quit complaining you don’t have enough time. If you can sit down and watch TV or surf the net then you certainly have enough time for exercise. Happy training and I will talk to you soon!
